ALISON BRANLEY

? CINEMA proprietor Scott Seddon has been driving a Toyota Prius for the past 10 months and has nothing but praise for hybrids.

He gets up to 1000 kilometres out of one 45-litre tank, drastically cutting his fuel bills.

While he bought the car to do his bit for the environment, it has done even more for his business.

Despite the car's $40,000 price tag, he said he's still about $400 a month in front.

"My lease payments are about $18 a month more, but I would be saving 20 times that in petrol," he said.

He rejected suggestions the car was only good for city driving.

He regularly travels between his premises in Heddon Greta and Raymond Terrace to Newcastle, Gosford and Sydney clocking up more than 900 kilometres each week.

"I get about 4.7 litres of petrol per 100 kilometres on the highway but when I have driven it in city traffic it does get even better, it does about 4.2 litres per 100 kilometres," he said.
